1 Million Step Challenge
This year, Prospectus IT Recruitment have decided to take on a challenge and raise money for a charity close to our hearts.
What is Diabetes ?
There are two types of Diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes is a serious, lifelong condition where your blood glucose level is too high because your body can't make a hormone called insulin. About 10 per cent of people with diabetes in the UK have Type 1 diabetes. It's got nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, it just happens. The causes are still unknown.
Type 2 Diabetes is a serious, lifelong condition where the insulin your pancreas makes can't work properly, or your pancreas can't make enough insulin.

Why do steps count ?
Each week, thousands of people in the UK suffer heart attacks, heart failure, stroke, amputation and blindness because of their diabetes. Diabetes UK provides information, care and support so everyone with diabetes can manage their condition well.
We are a great team and hope to walk 1 million steps to raise money to go towards research to develop new treatments and technologies and to, one day, find a cure.
The 1 million steps challenge is the equivalent of 19 marathons, or walking from Dover to Edinburgh.
Why are we doing it ?
Reason 1: Our roles as a "Desk Jockey" mean that our steps per day are quite often only between 2,500 and 5,000. To stay healthy, a minimum of 10,000 is recommended. So this will mean that we will all aim to be doing 10,000 per day during the challenge period.
Reason 2: It's a great team-building bit of fun. Over here, we're all a little competitive.
Reason 3: Lucy is a Type 1 diabetic, so it made sense to do this to help raise money that goes towards research to develop new treatments and technologies and, one day, find a cure.
Our Team
Elkie Holland, Amy Sheldrick, Sue Cater and Lucy Morgan.
